Left holding the silk bag

2:52 p.m. — First Block of South Yonge Street. Theft. The victim said she put her two watches and a ring inside of a silk jewelry bag and put them in the center console of her truck. Later that day, she took the truck to a car wash. She said she waited in the lobby while they washed and detailed her vehicle.

When she went to the jewelry store to get the items cleaned two days later, though, she noticed the bag was still there but the jewelry was missing. She said the only time the jewelry could have gone missing was while the truck was in the car wash because there was no other time when the truck was left unlocked.

The car wash said they would look at surveillance tapes. Both a man's and a woman's Tagheuer watch, valued each between $850 and $1,250, as well as  a $150 gold ring, are missing.

Looking for dog in all the wrong places

8:29 p.m. — 500 Block of Riverside Drive. Burglary. The victim said that when she and her husband arrived home, they noticed jewelry totaling about $880 was missing from the bedroom.

She said the sliding door was not latched fully and believes that was where the suspect entered. Due to the coarse material of the jewelry box, the officer was unable to check for fingerprints.

The officer made contact with a neighbor who said when he arrived home he saw a bicycle lying adjacent to the victim’s home. Later, he saw a male wearing a gray hoodie emerge from the rear of the home. The male in the hoodie stated that he was looking for his dog, which had gotten loose. He then immediately got onto the bike and rode off.

Thanks for the help ... not

3:05 a.m. — 1600 Block of N. U.S. 1. Information. Responding to a call in reference to a business alarm, the officer observed a woman sleeping in the back seat of an SUV.

Upon waking, the woman said she went into the gas station early that day to purchase fuel. After pumping, she noticed that her keys were missing. At that time, the owner was leaving, and he advised her to call police for help.

She said she went into the restaurant side of the business via an unlocked door in an attempt to locate her keys, which set off the alarm.

The officer explained the limitations in how police can assist her, and attempted to contact someone to secure the restaurant door.

After some time, someone arrived but said they had keys for the gas station but not the restaurant. He said he knew the number of the old restaurant manager but not the new one. The officer said he would make frequent patrols to prevent burglaries.
