Happy 102nd birthday, Betty Kenter!

BY EMILY BLACKWOOD | STAFF WRITER

Elizabeth “Betty” Kenter is full of stories.

At her 102nd birthday party Sunday, at Signature HealthCARE of Ormond, Kenter chatted up her friends and family about how she walked on her own for the first time since she broke her leg last year.

“Friday night, my therapist, he turned my leg completely all around for 10 minutes,” Kenter said. “I stood up, and he’s not holding me. I went down all by myself without the cart, and he said, 'You actually walked by yourself.' It goes to show ya: I never tell my therapist I can’t do it. Just try.”

Besides regaining the ability to walk on her own, Kenter has some more life goals she wants to achieve.

“My grandmother was 107," Kenter said. "I want to be 108.”
