Burglar gets away … for awhile
6:39 a.m. — First Block of Forestview Way. Burglary and Possession of Marijuana. A witness called and said a car was parked in front of the house with the windows down and a purse on the front seat. The witness said she saw her son’s ex-girlfriend park the car that morning. She had told her she was not welcome at their home.
While talking to the witness, the officer heard a loud noise in the house but he did not see anyone when he investigated.
The officer located the suspect, the ex-girlfriend, at her home and she admitted that she went to the house to steal money to bond her ex-boyfriend out of jail. She pried off a window screen and entered the home. She knew the people were at home so tried to be quiet.
She heard the resident talking to the officer so she started to leave. She hit something with her elbow, which made the loud noise, and fled the area.
While talking to the suspect, the officer noticed a glass pipe. She said she used to smoke marijuana. The officer asked her where the cannabis was and she handed him a container with cannabis.
She was arrested and transported to Volusia County Branch Jail.
