Florida Hospital's Pink Army has quadrupled its number of supporters since its 2010 inception. Fundraising events are scheduled throughout the area in October.

The Florida Hospital Pink Army campaign, launched in the fall of 2010 at Flagler Hospital Volusia-Flagler, and since spread to other Florida Hospitals in the Orlando and Tampa area.
About 6,000 residents joined in the initiative's first year and, today, there are about 24,000 “solders” in Central Florida who help battle breast cancer throughout the month of October.
Lindsay Rew, media manager for Florida Hospital Volusia-Flagler, said the Pink Army campaign aims at raising awareness about the life-saving benefits of annual mammograms and early detection.
“The goal is to encourage women to be proactive with their health and get screened, and to raise money for women who can’t afford to get mammograms or diagnostic imaging,” she said.
The organization has an “army” theme because it is on a “mission” to fight the disease, Rew said.
