Florida Hospital Flagler kicks of breast cancer awareness month events

Florida Hospital Flagler began its breast cancer awareness event series with an Oct. 1 flag raising ceremony and a breakfast and lecture for survivors.

Drs. Alvaro Alvarez, Philip Ndum and Miren Schinco spoke to breast cancer survivors at the hospital campus at 60 Memorial Medical Parkway, and community members joined them afterward for a pink flag-raising ceremony. The flags will fly till the end of the month.

About 250 people turned out for the events at Florida Hospital Flagler and Florida Hospital Volusia. The events were part of the annual Florida Hospital Pink Army campaign, aimed at enlisting people to increase the public’s awareness of breast cancer.
