Cara Cologero, of Palm Coast, is preparing for a medical mission trip to Kazakhstan with Wheels for the World May 20 to June 1.
Wheels for the World collects donated wheelchairs and sends them to be repaired by inmates trained in wheelchair restoration. The chairs then make their way to people in countries where wheechairs are often considered a luxury.
“I have seen poverty in the U.S., and I have seen poverty overseas,” Cologero said. “My hope is that people will open their hearts to both local and international needs and do something — anything — to spread hope to those who feel hopeless.”
Cologero needs to raise another $1,500 by April 19 to go toward her trip. To donate, send check or money order payable to "Neuenschwander," with "Cara KZ trip" in the memo, to Neuenschwander, 12141 Rainbow Drive, Truckee, CA 96161,or through PayPal to [email protected].
