The following is an adapted press release from the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office:

Flagler County youngsters who find themselves in stressful situations will have a new, soft and handmade teddy bear to cling to while they are scared.

The Sewing Byrds of Palm Coast have donated the bears to the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office for deputies to distribute to children in appropriate situations.

“Many times, deputies will arrive at a home or be called to a location where adults are fighting and there are children involved. It’s during those times that youngsters need comforting the most and I believe these bears fit that bill,” Sheriff Donald Fleming said in a statement.

American Sewing Guild members Greta Hogart and Audrey Williams, both of Palm Coast, presented the bears to Sheriff Fleming.
