Garden Club awards scholarships, installs officers

The Garden Club of Palm Coast installed new officers for 2012-2013 at its May meeting.

They are Ellen Werner, president; Jill Carpenter, vice president; Doreen Hodge, recording secretary; Judith Davies, corresponding secretary; Edwina Tabit, treasurer; Anita Knudsen, assistant treasurer; Linda Hensler, three-year director; Carol Raymond, two-year director; and Tony Milidantri, one-year director.

The club also awarded its annual scholarships, totaling $4,000, to five Flagler County high school graduates who are continuing their education in horticulture, agriculture or environmental studies.

The winners are Christina Caputo, Henry Boyd Fulmer IV, Stefanie Perosa, Kaitlyn Sanson, and Jared Warren. An additional $1,000 scholarship was awarded to last year’s recipient, Kelly Flanagan.

Scholarships to two local fifth-graders for a one-week summer nature camp at Wekiva Springs State Park, totaling $670, were also announced.

The Arrangers’ Guild, the club’s floral design group also installed its new officers for 2012-2013 at their May luncheon. They are Linda Hensler, director; Sandra Messer, co-director; Pat Maurer, recording secretary; Anne Bonforte, corresponding secretary; and Kathleen Terlizzo, treasurer.
