Tyler Martin, son of Diane and Bill Martin, of Flagler Beach, recently got engaged to Ashlee McDaniel, daughter of Chris and Stephanni McDaniel, of Palm Coast.
Planning of the proposal began in December 2011, when Martin secretly asked McDaniel’s parents for her hand. They then began planning the surprise engagement dinner.
Both families met for dinner at Seasons 52, in Jacksonville, to celebrate McDaniel’s grandfather’s birthday. After dinner, servers brought out two glasses of champagne, with the ring tied to a blue ribbon. Martin got down on one knee and popped the question.
“She was totally shocked and in tears as she replied, ‘Yes,’” he said. “We will remember that special evening forever.”
The couple is planning a two-year engagement so their friends have enough time to save for their cruise ship wedding.
