Col. Robert Alex, of Palm Coast, has been recognized with the Meritorious Service Award for his dedication and service on behalf of the members of Civil Air Patrol as an outstanding member of the National Safety Team.
As a Safety Team member, Alex provided substantial input, authorship and editing on several of the new, online professional development courses in the Safety Officer Specialty track as well as online safety modules that are taken monthly by members.
As a result of the increased emphasis on safety and awareness, the Civil Air Patrol (U.S. Air Force Auxiliary) has seen a marked decline in the number of aircraft accidents and incidents, as well as a reduction to zero in the number of vehicle accidents, along with a 67% drop in the number of bodily injuries to patrol members.
