Motorcyclist in serious condition after State Road 100 crash

Nicholas J. Frankovich, 73, of Palm Coast, was taken to Halifax Hospital for treatment of serious injuries after a 3:50 p.m. May 7 crash on State Road 100 and Airport Road.

Preliminary investigations by the Florida Highway Patrol reveal that Frankovich, who was riding a 1998 Honda motorcycle without a helmet, was traveling north on Airport Road. Rebecca Showalter, 36, of Palm Coast, was driving a 1995 Ford Escort east in the left lane of State Road 100.

Frankovich entered into the travel lanes of S.R. 100 in an attempt to turn left. He then entered the left lane, in which Showalter was driving. Her front bumper collided with the left side of Frankovich’s motorcycle, causing the bike to overturn.

It should be noted that as Airport Road intersects S.R. 100, it is a right turn only intersection.
