Harriett C. Look, 76, of Ormond Beach, was killed in a crash May 3, on U.S. 1 near Plantation Bay Drive. Her passenger, Diane M. Teske, 68, of Ormond Beach, was listed in critical condition at Halifax Medical Center. The second car involved was driven by Paul J. Rodrigues, 36, of Palm Coast. He was treated for minor injuries at Florida Hospital Flagler.
Preliminary findings by the Florida Highway Patrol indicate that Look was stopped on Plantation Bay Drive at the intersection of Plantation Bay Drive and U.S. 1. Rodrigues was traveling north on U.S. 1 in the inside lane.
Look, in a Toyota Avalon, attempted to cross the northbound lanes of U.S. 1 to travel southbound at 4:57 p.m. While attempting to cross the northbound lanes, Look violated the right of way of oncoming traffic. The front of Rodrigues’ vehicle, a Ford F350, then collided with the left side of Look’s vehicle in the inside lane of U.S. 1 northbound.
After impact, both vehicles proceeded through the U.S. 1 median break and entered the southbound lanes.
Traffic on U.S. 1 was diverted until 8:22 p.m., when all travel lanes of U.S. 1 were reopened.
