Students in the Whispering Meadows Ranch work skills program thank the people who made the program possible Friday, April 27, at a lunch at the ranch.

With the support of Dr. Tracy Umpenhour and the Flagler Schools Exceptional Student Education department, students from Flagler Technical Institute, Matanzas and Flagler Palm Coast high schools and the Adults with Disabilities Activity Center came together in the pilot program.

Business involved were Austin Outdoor and professional horticulturalist Lisa Hall. The Flagler County Master Gardeners helped design a wheelchair-accessible garden. Mike Striegel taught the students about horse shoes, and Lauren Swanson, of Gamble Rogers Memorial State Park, taught about Florida wildlife. The Home Depot helped the students build balance beams, monkey bars and benches along the trails.
