+ Intracoastal Bank announces new directors
At the company’s annual shareholders’ meeting March 15, Intracoastal Bank elected new officers to its board of directors. Those individuals are as follows: Bill W. Baylor, Michael D. Chiumento, C. Scott Crews, Robert DeVore, Thomas L. Gibbs, Albert B. Johnston, Jr., Gerald P. Keyes, Michael Machin and Bruce E. Page.

Management also presented a progress report on Intracoastal’s growth. Some of the highlights include an increase in total assets of 37%, or about $41 million; increased deposits by 39%, or about $39 million; and increased total loans by 23%, or about $15 million.

+ Teachers to open Palm Coast’s first hot-yoga studio
Heather Doutrick, 37, and Amber Corpion, 23, will open the Hot Yoga Lounge, Palm Coast’s first hot-yoga studio, April 7, at 1000 Palm Coast Parkway.

Both elementary school teachers, Doutrick and Corpion were drawn to hot yoga — which is exactly what it sounds like: yoga in a 100-plus-degree room — because of the workout and calorie-burn.

Doutrick, who teaches fourth grade at Rymfire, and Corpion, who graduated from Flagler Palm Coast High School and teaches science in Ormond Beach, say they got more serious about hot yoga because of its “spiritual and mental benefits.”

+ In-home ‘Blue Fish’ catering to benefit charities
Chefs Chris Casper, of Flagler Fish Co., and Gary Maresca, of Blue at the Topaz, have launched a new campaign to support both local restaurants and charities.

Their “Blue Fish Dinner” promotion is geared toward parties of 12, with dinner prepared by Casper and Maresca at the home or location of a customer’s choosing. Of the four-hour dinner’s $1,500 cost, 10% will be donated to a charity chosen by the customer.

“It’s been a difficult time for the local economy, and for nonprofits,” Casper says.

“We tried to think of a new, creative and fun way to help,” Maresca added.

Dinners can be scheduled Monday through Saturday. Flagler Fish Co. is located at 180 S. Daytona Ave., Flagler Beach. Call 439-0000. Blue at the Topaz is located 1224 State Road A1A in Flagler Beach. Call 439-4322.

At E’lan Hair Studio’s grand opening event at the beginning of the month, the company drew more than 300 partiers, including 10 from Daytona State College’s Fresh Start program, which the salon sponsors.

In the parking lot in front of the store, located at 99 Old Kings Road, the Dudkewic family band, “The Greatest Moments in Time,” performed. They have also performed at European Village, Veterans Park, in Flagler Beach Fourth of July festivities and at other local venues.
