Allen D. Whetsell, general manager of Craig-Flagler Palms Funeral Home, Memorial Gardens and Crematory, announced that he is running for the office of Flagler County supervisor of elections in the Republican primary.
A resident of Flagler Beach for the past 11 years, he has been active in the Flagler County Kiwanis Club, the Flagler County Education Foundation, the Governing Board of Flagler Auditorium, the Governing Board of the Family Life Center and has been involved with both the Flagler Beach Chamber of Commerce and the Flagler County Chamber of Commerce & Affiliates. He is also the governor-elect of the Florida District of Kiwanis International.
In a press release, Whetsell calls himself a “political newcomer,” and says he plans to “re-establish a positive working relationship with the County Commission, the other constitutional officers and the city governments in Flagler County,” if elected. “I hope to never have a hostile budget conference,” he said.
Three other Republicans have filed to run as well: Trey Corbett, Kimble Medley and Pam Richardson. Incumbent Kimberlee Weeks has not filed as of March 22.
