A cab driver for AAA Taxi, a Flagler County cab service, was arrested March 3 after he groped his 31-year-old female passenger and told her that he wanted to have sexual relations with her, according to Flagler County Sheriff’s Office documents.
A 31-year-old victim called AAA Taxi Saturday March 3, and was picked up at her B-section home. She told the driver, Mikhail Belyayev, 65, that she wanted to be taken to Target, off State Road 100.
While on the way to the destination, Belyayev started making inappropriate comments to her about wanting to have sexual relations with her, according to the report. At one point, Belyayev said to her: “I want to (expletive) you.”
She remained calm, but also managed to turn on her phone to record some of the conversation. That recording was used as evidence against Belyayev.
When the car reached Target plaza, Belyayev turned around and put his right hand on her left thigh. As they pulled into the parking lot, the cab driver continued to drive rather than stop. She told Belyayev that she wanted him to stop, but he kept driving, the report states.
As he continued to drive, he moved his hand up her leg and touched her vaginal area, according to the report.
Eventually, Belyayev reached the end of the plaza, near Hibbett Sports, and she got out of the car. She called law enforcement around 1:47 p.m.
She told deputies that she’s used AAA Taxi at least two or three times before and that Belyayev is the driver who always shows up.
The deputy who responded had her call the cab driver and asked him to pick her back up. He said he would be there in about 15 minutes.
Belyayev showed up and she was able to positively ID him. The deputy told Belyayev to get out of the car. Belyayev admitted to speaking to her about sex, the report states.
When the deputy asked Belyayev if he thought it was appropriate, the cab driver responded: “She’s an attractive woman.” Belyayev denied touching her, according to the report.
Belyayev, who lives in Palm Coast’s F-section, was arrested for battery and transported to the Flagler County Inmate Facility. He posted $500 bond and was released.
