A Missouri passenger was thrown from the back of a Harley-Davidson and killed in a crash March 12, on State Road A1A in Flagler County.

Bill Sallee, 38, of Neosho, Mo., was traveling southbound on State Road A1A, with his wife, Diana Sallee, 39, as passenger. Richard Kirtley, 65, of Jacksonville, was riding directly in front of Sallee and had their son, Tommy Sallee, 16, as his passenger. Both were riding Harley-Davidson motorcycles.

In front of the bikes, a 1993 GMC Suburban was stopped to turn left into the entrance of Washington Oaks Gardens State Park. Kirtley stopped, but Bill Sallee failed to see the stopped vehicles and crashed into the right saddlebag of Kirtley’s bike, according to the Florida Highway Patrol report.

As a result, Diana Sallee was thrown to the roadway. The bike then crashed into the rear of the Suburban. Diana Sallee was pronounced dead at 7:10 p.m. March 13, at Halifax Hospital.

Billy Sallee, an airport manager, also sustained minor injuries.

The Suburban was driven by Catherine Meagher, 70, of Excelsior, Minn.
