In her 911 call the morning after the crash, Jamesine Fischer told dispatch she thought she had hit a dog.
In reality, Fischer had hit Francoise Pecqueuer Nov. 10. Pecqueur later died as a result of the crash, which occurred in Palm Coast’s C-section. Fischer is being charged with leaving the scene of the crash without reporting it. The 911 call was made 11.5 hours after the crash.
The 911 call went as follows:
Fischer: I was driving down Columbia — I think it’s Lane — anyway, I was driving down and I heard a thud, and I thought I hit a dog. And then … I pulled over, and when I got out of the car, there was a lady laying there, and I thought she had fallen, and the dog was free. And I had hit the dog. And the (ambulance) came for her.
Dispatch: Did you stay on scene there?
Fischer: I did, and nobody came. I mean, (ambulance) was there, and they took the woman.
Dispatch: Did you tell them you thought you may have hit her?
Fischer: I didn’t realize it until afterward, because I was going to a neighbor’s house down the road, and when I pulled into the driveway and got out of the car, that was the first time I had noticed that my windshield had shattered.
(Dispatch then takes down name, number and address of Fischer)
Dispatch: We’ll have an officer come out, OK, ma’am?
Fischer: OK, bye.
