+ Inaugural Flagler Votes forum to be held July 28
Flagler County Association of Realtors and the Flagler Home Builders Association will host the county’s first Flagler Votes Forum 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, July 28, at the Association of Realtors building, at 4101 State Road 100, in Bunnell.

All declared candidates for upcoming primary elections are invited to the event.

In addition to the forums, candidates can rent, for $50, table space for speaking with voters and distributing campaign materials. There will also be onsite voter registration, information about local and state referendums on the ballot and food sold by nonprofits.

+ Daytona North couple charged in burglary
A Daytona North couple was arrested Tuesday afternoon after Flagler County Sheriff’s Office deputies watched them dismantling an air conditioning unit on a home on Hickory Street in Daytona North, according to a Sheriff’s Office release.

Tammy Lynn Keller, 45, and Jermaine Verdell, 39, both of 1761 Holly Lane, were charged with burglary of a dwelling and petit theft. Both were being held in the Flagler County Inmate Facility in lieu of $1,759 bond.

+ Kiwanis, Bright House honored for schools support
The Kiwanis Club of Flagler Palm Coast and Bright House Networks were each recognized in a recent state ceremony honoring more than 70 organizations for being strong supporters of their local education system.

Hosted by the Florida Department of Education, more than 70 businesses and nonprofits were recognized for their partnerships with education, at the 2012 Commissioner’s Business Recognition Awards ceremony.

The first Flagler company to be highlighted, Bright House Networks was named a Flagler County Education Foundation Partner in Education, in recognition of its annual support of college scholarships, teacher grants and schools supplies for children in need.

Each year, Bright House also sponsors the Tommy Tant Jr. Surf Contest and FCEF Golf Classic.

Also spotlighted was the Kiwanis Club of Flagler Palm Coast, a club of 44 members which ranks in the top 4% of the 11,000 Kiwanis clubs worldwide for the amount of money it returns to its community annually.

+ R-section crash sends motorcyclist into the air
Travis Lee Miteen, 23, of Palm Coast was listed in serious condition after a single-vehicle crash at 4:50 p.m. June 20.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Miteen was driving a 2002 Suzuki motorcycle on Rickenbacker Lane in Palm Coast, when for an unknown reason he failed to negotiate a turn and traveled onto the east shoulder. The motorcycle became airborne and struck a concrete culvert.
