Deputies arrested two Flagler County men Wednesday on charges relating to cultivating marijuana inside of a Palm Coast home, according to a Flagler County Sheriff’s Office report.

Kevin Fitzgerald, 35, of Flagler Beach, was charged with cultivating marijuana and possession of more than 20 grams of marijuana. Michael Menear, 38, of Palm Coast, was charged with cultivating marijuana. Both men were arrested at 3:30 p.m.

Fitzgerald was released from the Flagler County Inmate Facility after posting $5,000 bond. Menear was released on $2,500

The discovery of the illegal cultivation operation began when deputies were called to the home at 111 Birchwood Drive, in Palm Coast, in reference to a disturbance.

Upon arriving, deputies made contact with both parties on scene and witnessed two men dismantling the contents from an active grow house, removing the plants and placing them in their vehicle. After receiving consent to search the residence, deputies discovered the garage and a spare bedroom where active “grow rooms” containing an elaborate grow setup with lights and chemicals used for cultivating marijuana were present.

Deputies dismantled the grow equipment from the residence and searched a vehicle that was parked in front of the home.

During the search, a total of 91 marijuana plants were recovered that had been removed from the residence prior to the Sheriff’s Office arriving on scene. At full potential, these plants would have yielded 15 pounds of marijuana with a street value of $37,000, according to the report.

“I anticipate additional charges may be filed as the detectives complete their investigation,” said Sheriff Donald Fleming.

Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
