A Daytona North couple was arrested Tuesday afternoon after Flagler County Sheriff’s Office deputies watched them dismantling an air conditioning unit on a home on Hickory Street in Daytona North, according to a Sheriff’s Office release.
Tammy Lynn Keller, 45, and Jermaine Verdell, 39, both of 1761 Holly Lane, were charged with burglary of a dwelling and petit theft. Both were being held in the Flagler County Inmate Facility in lieu of $1,759 bond.
Deputies said they responded to the home on Hickory Street after receiving a report of a burglary in progress. Keller and Verdell were located on the property shortly before 2 p.m. with refrigerator and air conditioning parts in the bed of the truck they were driving.
Keller told deputies she had the property owner’s permission to clean the residence. However, deputies said contact was made with the absent owner who said no one had permission to clean or even be on the property.
Both Keller and Verdell were cooperative with the investigation, according to deputies.
“We responded to the home after we received a call from someone reporting the burglary,” Sheriff Donald Fleming said in a statement. “I encourage residents to stay alert in their neighborhoods and serve as another set of ears and eyes for our deputies.”
