Flagler County Sheriff’s Office detectives have charged a 41-year-old Apopka man with robbery and grand theft in connection with the May 17 robbery of a Palm Coast bank, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Kevin Lee Cotterman, of Dover Circle, is currently being held in the Seminole County Jail on outstanding warrants from Flagler, Orange and Duval counties.

Flagler County detectives said the man entered the bank the Bank of America, on Belle Terre Parkway in Palm Coast, around 11:15 a.m. on May 17.

He handed the teller a note demanding money and saying he had a gun. Cotterman fled the scene after the teller handed him an envelope of money.

Cotterman is also a suspect in connection with other bank robberies in Jacksonville and Volusia and Orange counties that occurred in May and June.

A tip received by Crimestoppers tip line in DeLand identified Cotterman as the suspect in two DeLand bank robberies. Flagler detectives said they were able to match Cotterman to security photos taken in the Palm Coast robbery. The detectives traveled to Seminole County Thursday to serve the arrest warrant on Cotterman, who confessed to the crime, according to the detectives.

“This man was a one-man crime spree who terrorized people as well as robbed them,” Flagler County Sheriff Donald Fleming said in a statement. “I would hope he is off the streets forever.”
