The County Commission agreed to officially accept a portion of Strickland Road and Durrance Lane from Tomoka Holdings LLC subject to two conditions, preliminarily accepted by the current landowner.

Acceptance of the deed, which would mean an annual county responsibility of $12,000 in maintenance (to be funded through gas tax), will be contingent upon a receipt of release from the St. Johns River Water Management District for the modification of a corrected conservation easement of the Lake Swamp Mitigation Bank that exists along the portion of property being donated.

Receipt of a revised special warranty deed, limiting the application of the reverter clause to only those portions of the swamp that are encumbered by the easement, and to taxes and assessments imposed by the county, must also be received prior to acceptance.

The county initially agreed to accept a portion of this road in January.
