Marleigh Mlinac, of Palm Coast, has been placed on the Dean’s List at Jacksonville University for maintaining a grade point average of 3.5 or higher.

Mlinac will become a senior at the college in the fall of 2012, where she will play on the women’s soccer team.

She is also a 2009 graduate of Matanzas High School, where she was recognized as the Scholar Athlete of the Year.

Mlinac was awarded a scholarship from the PGA Tour/Players Championship for Billy Walker, as well, for being a “student making a difference in their community.”

Her volunteer work includes Relay for Life, Fishing With Friends for people with autism and Down syndrome, working soccer camps for children with disabilities for the Down syndrome of Jacksonville organization and assisting with other soccer camps.

In June 2011, Mlinac underwent reconstructive surgery for a blown ACL. After receiving an Achilles tendon from a donor, she endured months of rehabilitation and physical therapy.

She marked her one-year anniversary of her surgery by running in the Never Quit Never 5K run, which took place Saturday, June 9, in Jacksonville Beach.
