The company employs eight people, with plans for local expansion, says one owner.

Designs for Health Inc., a nutritional supplements company, has moved to town, Flagler County’s Economic Opportunity Advisory Council announced last week.

The company, which was founded in 1989 by Jonathan and Linda Lizotte with a team of nutritionists to provide nutrition counseling services, has located to the Palm Coast Industrial Park, at 15 Hargrove Grade.

Soon after the company began, it branched out to the manufacturing and distribution of nutritional supplements to health care professionals.

Now, in addition to providing supplements, Designs for Health also offers health care seminars and educational material for the health care industry. The Flagler County facility currently employs eight people.

“We plan to expand to 15 to 20 by the end of the year,” Designs for Health Co-founder Jonathan Lizotte said in a statement last week.

The company currently has its manufacturing plant in Montana, but when new manufacturing equipment is needed, Lizotte said, it is possible that the manufacturing plant may be moved to Flagler.

Selecting Flagler County was easy, Lizotte added.

“We have traveled around Florida quite a bit, and we just enjoy this part of Florida the most,” he said. “I am very excited about moving to Flagler County.”

Flagler County Board of County Commissioners Chairwoman Barbara Revels said bringing Designs for Health is a result of a “careful transition from Enterprise Flagler to the county’s economic development department.”

“The company’s interest in relocating to Flagler County began with Enterprise Flagler, and Flagler County followed through with the lead,” Revels said. “We are delighted to welcome this new company to our community.”

Flagler chosen to host national site-selectors conference
Flagler County will be the location for a three-day conference for business site selectors begining June 18, at the Hammock Beach Resort. Sponsored by the Flagler County Department of Economic Opportunity, Enterprise Florida and JaxUSA, Flagler’s conference, titled “The Roundtable in the South,” is part of an annual series of three conferences held throughout the country.

“This is a real feather in our cap,” Revels said. “Consultants who assist the business community in selecting sites will spend three days in the county, and they will get to see firsthand what we have to offer.”

The full conference, billed as one of the premier economic development industry events, will host speaker Angelos Angelou, who was featured in the most recent edition of Florida Trend Magazine.

“We are very pleased with (the) selection of Flagler County for the conference in the Southern states,” Flagler County Economic Development Director Helga van Eckert said. “This event provides us the opportunity to meet with the site selectors on an individual basis and not just tell them about the community, but show them what an amazing place Flagler County is for their clients looking to expand or relocate. It is our time to shine.”
