Two weeks ago, the residents of Clarendon Court North woke up to find a single plastic pink flamingo decorated with a lei and a beret on the lawn of a neighbor.

They thought nothing of it, until a week later, when six different houses were sporting pink flamingos.

“At first, we thought it was someone playing a joke on the members of the Anchor Boat Club,” said Art Milberg, “until we took a more exact look and noticed one was on the lawn of a nonmember. At that point, we figured it was a sign about the street’s once-a-month men’s lunch group.”

Everything stayed the same for two days. Then the flamingos were moved to the lawns of different people, with three on the lawn of one person, a member of both groups. One of the birds had a vodka bottle hanging on it.

A couple days later, that house had five birds, and a new resident found one on the lawn, as well.

“We have no idea who is doing it, but we hope they don’t stop,” Milberg said.

Tuesday, Jan. 24, the invasion moved several blocks east, and the flamingos settled around a house on South Claridge Court.
