Steven Barneski, a 21-year-old Palm Coast man, was arrested Jan. 17 for aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer after he bit a Sheriff’s deputy who was trying to arrest him on an outstanding warrant.
The deputy said Barneski, who is 6-foot-5, 150 pounds, began struggling with him when he attempted to place him into handcuffs.
The deputy’s portable radio was damaged when Barneski attempted to prevent the deputy from calling for assistance. Once Barneski was handcuffed, deputies also found a small amount of marijuana in his pockets.
Barneski was still in jail one week later, as of Jan. 25.
VANDALISM
In an unrelated incident that same day, Jan. 17, deputies began investigating a series of vandalism on homes and autos on Rockingham Lane, Rockefeller Drive, Rybark Lane and White View Parkway.
Residents reported that obscenities were spray painted on walls and doors overnight. Anyone with information on the incidents is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office at 386-313-4911.
