The following is an adapted press release from the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office:

A 15-year-old Palm Coast teenager is charged with breaking into a home on Whirlaway Drive Monday afternoon and then threatening neighbors who caught him in the act.

David Green, of Rollins Lane was arrested around 4:15 p.m., and additionally charged with criminal mischief as he was caught breaking into the Palm Coast home by residents who live behind the house.

Deborah Schultz-Clark and her husband reported hearing glass break behind their house. When they went to investigate, they found Green, who was armed with a machete.

Schultz-Clark told the teenager, “If you come near with that, I will beat you to death,” according to a release by the Sheriff’s Office.

The teenager backed down and deputies arrived on scene to take him into custody.

Deputies said the teenager was already on probation for a home burglary several months earlier.

After being charged, the teenager was turned over to the custody of his mother.

“Hopefully, this arrest will force him into a program that can help him re-direct his life into something useful,” Flagler County Sheriff Donald Fleming said in a statement.
