Flagler County has announced the dates for its spring 2012 Citizens Academy, and it is currently accepting reservations from all residents.

The Citizens Academy is an eight-week program designed to introduce participants to the variety of operations and services performed by Flagler County staff.

Each weekly session features a presentation by different departments or branches of local government. The sessions include presentations by the Board of County Commissioners, Constitutional Officers, and the administrative department.

“Feedback from past Citizens Academy participants has been overwhelmingly positive,” County Administrator Craig Coffey said. “Members of the Citizens Academy class are often surprised by the extent of the role of county government in Florida.”

The spring 2012 Flagler County Citizens Academy will be held 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday nights, beginning Feb. 23. Locations will vary each week. The final session will be April 12, with graduates to be recognized at the Aprl 16 County Commission meeting.

Each academy class has a 25-participant capacity, with participants in order of application submittal.
