Flagler County Sheriff’s detectives are investigating an early Saturday morning shooting on Belle Terre Parkway that injured a 14-year-old Palm Coast boy.
Investigators believe the incident that took place around 12:24 a.m. near Royal Palms Parkway, was not a random shooting. The vehicle was struck at least four times, and the teenager was hit in the left hand.
Deputies responded to Florida Hospital Flagler shortly before 12:30 a.m. after being notified that a gunshot victim had been brought to the emergency room.
Detectives said the teenager and his 19-year-old cousin, Shaquille Neal, also of Palm Coast, were traveling southbound on Belle Terre Parkway when another vehicle pulled up next to them. Neal told deputies he heard several “popping noises” and then his younger cousin told him he had been shot in the hand, so the two headed to the hospital.
Detectives said Neal’s vehicle had a bullet hole in the passenger rear panel, three holes in the passenger side door, and the front windshield had a hole in it that appeared to have been from a bullet traveling through the dashboard.
Detectives are trying to determine if the two teenagers were involved in a disturbance that took place at Epic Theatres in the Town Center late Friday.
Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office at 386-313-4911.
