O’Brien replaces former Chief Deputy Rick Look.

Sheriff Don Fleming welcomed elected officials, staff, special guests and members of the press to witness the promotion of Maj. David O’Brien to chief deputy Feb. 27, at the Flagler County Sheriff’s Operations Center.

Fleming stated that he was both saddened and happy about the promotion.

He was saddened because former Chief Deputy Rick Look has been relieved of his duties due to poor health but happy to promote O’Brien.

O’Brien said that serving in law enforcement for the past 28 years has prepared him for this post and that he will do everything he can to make sure the men and women of the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office have all tools, training and support necessary to provide quality law enforcement services expected by the community.
