When 23-year-old Margery Marvelous Alexis returned to Palm Coast after graduating from Bethune-Cookman University, she was racking her brain to think of what she could do to give back to her community.

Being a singer herself and a member of God’s Family Bible Church, she wanted to help others showcase their talents, but also to glorify God.

“Because to me, everything you do for God counts,” she said. “If it’s not for God, it doesn’t count.”

And that is where .COM (pronounced dot com) was born. The Christian Open Mic night held its first event Friday, Feb. 24, at the Flagler County Association of Realtors Building, 4101 E. Moody, Blvd.

More than 10 participants ministered to a full house through song, dance and spoken word. Participants can sign up for the event, which will be held the last Friday of every month, at www.TheChristianOpen Mic.com.
