A 34-year-old Palm Coast man was arrested Wednesday evening at his home on multiple warrants that tied him to three felony crimes in Flagler County that were committed in a two-week period, including October robberies of a motel and liquor store, according to the Flagler county Sheriff’s Office.

Jaquez Roland was taken into custody at 11 B Service Tree Place shortly after 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 22, by Flagler County Sheriff’s Office deputies. He is being held in the Flagler County Inmate Facility on $429,000 bail.

A female inside Roland’s home first told deputies Wednesday that he wasn’t there, but a pizza delivery had just been made, and the delivery man was able to identify the customer as Roland.

Roland also signed a receipt with his name and gave it to the delivery man.

As SWAT team members prepared to approach the home, a man who claimed to be Roland’s brother arrived. The brother made contact with Roland on his cell phone, and then Roland talked with deputies, agreeing to come out of the house.

The arrest was made without incident, and Roland was charged with resisting arrest without violence.

Roland is charged in connection with the following crimes:

3:25 a.m. Oct. 17, 2011 — Detectives charged Roland with armed robbery, grand theft, battery and false imprisonment. Roland walked into the Microtel Inn, at 16 Kingswood Drive, where he entered the empty lobby and removed $300 from the cash drawer. When the desk clerk interrupted him, Roland grabbed the man by his arm and pulled a gun on him, threatening to kill him. Roland then forced the clerk into the office toward a safe. When the clerk was unable to open the safe, Roland then ordered him to lie on the floor and zip tied his wrists behind his back. He then took the victim’s wallet.

3:35 a.m. Oct. 31, 2011 — The Bunnell Police Department charged Roland with burglary of an occupied dwelling and criminal mischief in connection with a residential break in at a home at 511 South Bacher Street. In that incident, Roland is accused of attempting to remove a bedroom air conditioning window unit while a resident slept in the room.

10:20 a.m. Oct. 31, 2011 — Roland is charged with robbery, grand theft, battery and false imprisonment after detectives said he walked into Sharps Liquors in Flagler Plaza on State Road 100 and put a gun into the back of the clerk before dragging her into a stock room and zip tying her wrists and legs. Detectives then say Roland took cash from the register and safe inside the store.

Roland also was served on a separate warrant for failure to appear.

“This man was armed and went on his own crime spree,” said Sheriff Donald Fleming. “Our investigation was thorough and we have built a strong case against this man who needs to be off the streets permanently.”
