The State Attorney’s Office will charge Sahmi Green with cruelty to animals, a third-degree felony, for stabbing and killing a dog Feb. 12, in Palm Coast.

The incident occurred on Prospect Lane. Samantha Lilly called and said someone had stabbed her dog. Her roommate, Green, had taken the dog for a walk and told Lilly that the dog got into a fight. The dog died soon thereafter.

Green had left the scene by the time deputies arrived. The deputies observed a blood trail along the road and also found a bloody kitchen knife and a pair of eyeglasses.

Upon further investigation, deputies found a witness who said he observed Green in the kitchen retrieving the knife that was found.

Green was later arrested and jailed. A deputy then reported: “I observed Sahmi in the Flagler County Inmate Facility making squealing noises.” No other explanation was reported.
