A Palm Coast man was scammed out of more than $4,000 by a transvestite escort found on Craigslist, according to Flagler County Sheriff’s Office documents.

Last week, a Palm Coast man reported a stolen credit. The victim told law enforcement officials that every 12 to 18 months, he goes on a drinking binge. While on the drinking binge, the man said he goes to www.Craigslist.com and calls escort services.

The victim did so Jan. 4, and the escort turned out to be a transvestite. At the end of the night, the victim told deputies, the escort said he didn’t have a place to go and asked if they could stay at the victim’s house for a night. The victim obliged.

The next day, the victim attempted to get the escort out of the house, but the escort said he was 16 years old and threatened to charge the Palm Coast man with rape.

The victim got nervous and let the escort stay another three nights, the report states. The Palm Coast man said he bought the escort a car in order to get him to leave.

Then, on Jan. 10, the Palm Coast man got a call from his bank questioning unusual purchases. The victim checked for his card when he realized his debit card and credit card were missing. Other items that were missing included a digital camera valued at $100 and a bucket of change worth approximately $350. Between Jan. 7 and Jan. 10, $3,700 was charged to the Palm Coast man’s debit card, and $500 was charged to his credit card.

The Sheriff’s Office searched databases, but was unable to locate any suspects, according to the report.
