Florida Hospital Flagler raises heart awareness

Every year since 1900 (except for 1918), cardiovascular disease has caused more deaths in the U.S. than any other cause.

Over the past 40 years, there has been a striking reduction in coronary-heart-disease deaths in men, but reductions in women have behind. More women than men die of coronary heart disease every year, according to Florida Hospital.

To raise awareness for heart disease as the No. 1 killer of women, the American Heart Association created Go Red For Women.

The movement is intended to harness the energy, passion and power women have to band together and collectively wipe out heart disease.

The celebrate awareness, Florida Hospital Flagler hosted a heart healthy breakfast for about 100 people.
