At the request of Flagler County School Board member Andy Dance, and the suggestion of a parent at the Feb. 7 meeting who urged the board to add a color to its uniform policy in consideration of the district’s “girly girls,” black was added as an acceptable district shirt or over-garment color, in addition to the white and gray already approved.

Each school principal is also permitted to choose up to two school-specific colors, to add to the district’s three allowable hues. Certain principals, such as Nancy Willis of Old Kings Elementary, though, will opt for only one additional option, in an effort to increase the uniformity in her campus’ uniform policy.

The board also decided that school ID cards will also still be required on Flagler campuses.
