Palm Coast man, 20, charged in European Village attack

A Palm Coast man has been charged with robbery in connection with the Jan. 31 attack and robbery of a European Village resident, according to a release by the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office.

Kenneth Peters, 20, of 59 Westchester Lane, was arrested Monday evening on a warrant issued earlier in the day.

Peters is charged with striking the 60-year-old victim as the two walked into his unit on Palm Harbor Parkway around 4:31 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 31. The victim said once the two were inside, Peters struck him in the head with a heavy object, causing the victim to lose consciousness.

When the victim awoke, he victim said his Oxycodone medication and wallet were missing. He was transported to Florida Hospital Flagler for treatment of a severe head wound. The victim’s injuries required about 15 staples to the head and more than 50 stitches to his facial area.

The victim was able to identify his attacker as “Kenny,” a casual acquaintance, and also provided a description of him. Detectives were able to contact Peters through a number left on the victim’s cell phone. Peters cooperated with detectives and admitted to having planned to steal the victim’s prescription medication, but denied actually taking the pills. Detectives recovered a bag belonging to the victim inside an elevator at the apartment complex which Peters is suspected of stealing.

Also, according to Debra Johnson, spokeswoman for the Sheriff's Office, Peters is additionally charged with violation of misdemeanor probation. He is being held without bond in the Flagler County Inmate Facility, Johnson said. 

“This case is not closed,” Flagler County Sheriff Donald Fleming said in a statement Tuesday. “As the investigation continues, Mr. Peters can expect to face additional charges.”
