The following is adapted from a press release:

Flagler County Sheriff’s detectives are investigating the Tuesday afternoon brutal attack on a Palm Coast man at his European Village apartment by a man whom he befriended.

The 60-year-old victim was knocked unconscious after he and his assailant entered the apartment unit on Palm Harbor Parkway around 4:31 p.m. Detectives said the victim suffered multiple facial and head injuries, including a large gash to his head that was likely caused by a heavy object.

Deputies found a large pool of partially-dried blood on the floor near the victim's bed. He was transported to Florida Hospital Flagler by Flagler County Emergency Medical Services where he received more than 50 staples and multiple stitches to his head and face. He remained there today recovering from his injuries.

The victim said when he regained consciousness Tuesday, he found his wallet and his prescription medications were missing. The prescription for oxycodone medication had been filled earlier Tuesday.

Detectives said the man knows his assailant only by his first name and does not know where he lives.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office at 386-313-4911.
