The Flagler County Sherriff’s Office held a gun buy-back Saturday, Aug. 11, collecting 71 firearms.

Individuals received a $50 gift card for each operational firearm turned in, up to a maximum of three.

This is the first time Flagler County has held a program like this. It was funded through a $7,000 crime prevention grant awarded by the Flagler County Board of County Commissioners.

As an additional service, a prescription drug take back was also held during the event. Gift cards were not distributed, but residents were encouraged to drop of their unwanted prescription drugs.
