The Hispanic American Club celebrated its 25th anniversary Saturday, April 14, at its clubhouse on Commercial Court.

The club was founded in 1987 with the purpose to guide and service the growing Hispanic community.

“In the 1990s the Hispanic population in Flagler County grew to more than 3%,” said Carlos Pinto, club president. Referring to Hispanic-American marriages, he added: “We wanted to service not only the Hispanic community, but also members who are in some way related to Hispanics.”

The Hispanic American Club embraces both cultures, he said. Its vision is to maintain the Hispanic culture, language and traditions while also embracing American culture.

“Although we are a Hispanic club representative of all Spanish-speaking countries, we welcome Hispanics and non-Hispanics to become members and meet new friends while enjoying the camaraderie of current friendships in a warm, congenial atmosphere,” Pinto said.
