St. Johns County School Board Chairman Bev Slough plans to enter the race for Florida District 6 of the U.S. House of Representatives, according to a press release sent yesterday. The district encompasses St. Johns, Flagler, and parts of Putnam and Volusia counties.

In addition to that seat, there are 11 positions up for re-election in Flagler County. Click here for a previous story about those races: “Fleming, Peterson challenged.”

Since that story was published, George Hanns said last month on “Free For All Friday,” on WNZF, that he will seek re-election in County Commission District 5. Ross Herbert Whitaker Jr. has already filed to run for that position.

According to the Supervisor of Elections website in Flagler County, three other challengers have filed.

Daniel Joseph Bozza Sr. has filed to run for County Commission District 1, against incumbent Alan Peterson and Charles F. Ericksen Jr.

Bill Corkran has filed to run against incumbent Susan C. Dickinson, for School Board District 5.

Deborah B. Laury has filed to run for School Board District 3 — as yet, unopposed.

The filing deadline is in June, so candidates still have two months to enter the races.
