The Flagler Humane Society has been selected to participate in the 2012 American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) and Rachel Ray Challenge. Nationwide, 150 shelters are participating in the challenge.
The ASPCA has partnered with Rachel Ray to encourage animal shelters to utilize innovative and progressive ways to save the lives of animals. Once accepted as part of the competition, 50 shelters will prove they can increase number of lives saved by 300 or more from August, September and October 2011 to the same time frame in 2012.
The first hurdle, however, is that the shelter has to get voted into the competition.
Beginning noon April 5 and ending midnight April 16, everyone will have the opportunity to vote. The five shelters that have the most votes in each of the five geographic divisions will automatically compete for the grand prize of $100,000.
