Flagler County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested a Palm Coast man Sunday after he violated a court injunction by attempting to contact his estranged wife and then attempted to avoid arrest by fleeing from deputies, according to a press release.

Barry Gallagher, 43, is facing additional charges of resisting arrest without violence, driving with a suspended driver’s license, violation of an injunction against aggravated stalking, violation of probation and fleeing to elude a police officer. The incident took place around 1:30 p.m. Sunday, at the intersection of Old Kings Road and Felshire Lane, after deputies said he violated the injunction.

Around 8 a.m. Sunday, Gallagher violated a no-contact court injunction when he went to his wife’s home on Felton Lane and contacted her and her daughter.

Deputies said Gallagher was later stopped at the Felshire Lane intersection and exited his vehicle as deputies approached him. For security, deputies instructed Gallagher to show his hands while turning and backing toward them. As deputies approached him, Gallagher ran back to his vehicle and, with tires squealing, drove away at a high rate of speed, according to the release.

Deputies were able to keep Gallagher’s vehicle in view as he drove north on Old Kings Road and turned onto Freneau Lane. Both exits from Freneau were blocked, and deputies searched the area. The man was located at 61 Freneau Lane. He was taken into custody at the scene and later booked into the Flagler County Inmate Facility without bond.

“We are fortunate that this incident ended with this man’s arrest and without injuries to anyone involved,” Sheriff Donald Fleming said in a Monday statement.
