Flagler County Sheriff’s deputies arrested two men Sept. 1, on a charge of home solicitation without a permit. Both were selling meat from a freezer in the back of their pickup truck. The men arrested were Matthew Tribble, 28, Portsmouth, Va., and Jason Staufenberger, 26, of Jacksonville.

Deputies responded to Putter Drive around 3:43 p.m. after a Palm Coast Code Enforcement officer reported two independent contractors were going door to door to selling meat products.

The two men said they did not have a permit and didn’t know they needed one.

Both men were arrested on the charge and transported to the Flagler County Inmate Facility. Both were released earlier today. Staufenberger was sentenced to time served and Tribble posted $100 bail on the charge.

“We are working with the city to discourage these unlicensed solicitors,” said Sheriff Donald W. Fleming. “Residents have complained about pushy, abusive home alarm solicitors and they have complained about the interruptions in their day.”

In August, four door-to-door home alarm solicitors were arrested on the same charges.

Sheriff Fleming is asking residents to contact the Sheriff’s Office if they are approached by these unlicensed solicitors.
