Jeannette Wheeler, originally from Norwalk, Conn., and Ellen Parker, originally from Cleveland, met at the Mount Calvary Baptist Church of Palm Coast and discovered they shared the same birthday: Sept. 22, 1931. Thus began a close relationship.

Their celebration began Thursday with a surprise luncheon at Tavern by the Green, in Ormond Beach. The party was hosted by Jeannette’s daughter-in-law, Angie Wheeler, who surprised her by flying in from Washington, D.C.

The celebration continued Friday at the Palm Coast Yacht Club, where Jeannette Wheeler’s husband, James, and Parker’s friend, Wendell Davis, surprised the “twins” with about 50 guests.

Wheeler is a retired educator who moved to Palm Coast in 1999; Parker is a retired dietician and moved here in the 1980s.
