The Flagler County School Board recently accepted a $36,000 donation of furniture from MacDill Air Force Base, in Tampa.

The donation included 69 items, including 23 bookcases, 22 office chairs and 11 desks with hutches.

Dottie Colletta, director of custodial services for Flagler schools, said this is the second donation in as many years from MacDill, which is renovating buildings on the base. Last year, the donation was worth more than $100,000.

The connection with the base was through former superintendent Bill Delbrugge, Colletta said.

“We have put every piece to good use,” she said. “We love MacDill Air Force Base. Donations that are going to save taxpayers money are great.”
