Former Miss Flagler to present research in D.C.

Bernice Lopez, daughter of Carlos and Nelly Lopez, of Palm Coast, graduated with her masters of public heath, from the University of South Florida.

Lopez is a graduate of Flagler Palm Coast High School and a former Miss Flagler County. She is continuing studies at USF as a doctoral student in biomedical anthropology. Currently, Lopez is working on a grant-funded project that is intended to expand HIV programs to people living in low-density areas.

Her research was published in the journals “AIDS and Behavior” and “Innovation and Technology.” Lopez’s research will be presented at this year’s American Public Health Association Conference, in Washington, D.C.
