O2 Secure Wireless CEO Val Kazia says his company plans to hire 40 Palm Coast employees following a job fair to be held June 25. He expects to hire 40 more in 2012.
O2 Secure Wireless — the Internet, television and home phone company that signed a FiberNet agreement with Palm Coast in February — will be holding a job fair June 25, in cooperation with the Flagler County Chamber of Commerce & Affiliates and the Center for Business Excellence, with the intention of hiring 40 local workers, from salesmen to upper management.
Val Kazia, O2 CEO, expects all positions to be filled by Sept. 1. He also expects employment to double to 80 by September of next year.
With Palm Coast set as the company’s national corporate headquarters, O2 is shopping for office space.
Kazia says that by the time the company roster is filled, O2 will have acquired kiosk space in local supercenters, 2,000 square feet of retail space — possibly on Palm Coast Parkway — and 5,000 square feet of warehouse space — possibly in the Hargrove complex, off U.S.1.
An expansion to 10,000 square feet of warehouse space is expected after the first year of business.
O2, which merged with Saint Augustine-based telecom provider Earthcom Service Inc. in 2010, currently has a license to provide coverage throughout Flagler and Putnam counties. In addition, Kazia is in talks with five nearby cities to expand O2’s coverage area, with all backhaul running through a central Palm Coast hub capable of supporting up to 500,000 customers throughout North, Central and East Florida.
“We’re moving to Palm Coast because it’s going to be our center of communications for operations,” Kazia said. “The area is perfect for what we’re doing.”
O2 will expand overseas, as well, with Earthcom (O2’s wholly owned subsidiary) handling the company’s international coverage. Earthcom is currently mobilized to expand into the Dominican Republic.
Working with LUX Communication to increase bandwidth offerings, O2 offers connectivity wirelessly which, Kazia explained, means high speeds are assured.
Instead of rates limited by “up to” parameters, he said, O2’s coverage is 4G, guaranteed. The company advertises download speeds of 30 megabytes per second and uploads of 15 mbps. O2 will also offer 250 cable channels, including 90 in high definition and 30 Latin.
Full packages are projected to run $100 per month. Internet/home phone packages are projected at $35 per month.
“I would think there’s a lot of qualified people looking for work (in Flagler County),” Kazia said. “We’re just very excited to get started. I think it’s right.”
The O2 Secure Wireless job fair will take place 9:30 a.m. June 25, at 20 Airport Road, Suite C.
