“Life’s Span: 21 Voices,” originally published in 2009, is the culmination of the seven-year exploration of students in Deborah Susswein’s writing creatively classes through Flagler County Community Education.

She recently printed a special second edition of the book in honor of her mother, Carol Susswein.

Carol Susswein was one of her daughter’s students and “a contributor of a number of delightful poems and tender personal pieces that truly demonstrated her previously hidden creative writing talents; she was able to see her work in print before she died,” Deborah Susswein writes on the book’s website.

Eighty percent of the profits from the second edition will be donated to Odyssey Hospice Foundation.

“I could find no more appropriate way to pay tribute to my mother and the Odyssey angels than with a donation from the sales of a book that truly celebrates life and all the gifts it offers,” Deborah Susswein writes.
